Jay-Z On Referencing Biggie’s Rhymes
Jay-Z detractors have long tried to use the fact that he uses famous lines from the late Notorious B.I.G. in several of his rhymes as reason to dismiss his abilities. But Jay says those critics miss the point–he’s paying homage to a hip hop legend.[video here]
“There was a vow in that song about Big. So doing that was my way of always keeping him fresh and keeping his music fresh on everyone’s mind,” he said. “So I’m inspired by music and I’m a fan and a historian. I study music and different emotions and things like that. So, if I’m inspired by it, I just use it. It’s not a crutch for me. I can write a song without using anyone’s lyric at all.”
“That sums the whole thing up. Be comfortable with yourself and your ability. You don’t have that insecurity when people say, ‘Oh he stealing homeboy’s lyrics, he can’t write a rap.’ We can sit down next to anybody and write two verses. They could write and I could sit up there and come with a verse and we can see who comes up with a better verse any day.”

Joie Chavis Changes Her Story
Bow Wow’s baby mama Joie Chavis is now claiming that stories that she excluded the rapper’s name from their daughter’s birth certificate were exaggerated. Joie says TMZ basically ‘made’ her give them the story.
Nothing like getting knocked-up by a Z-list rapper to get an aspiring ‘model’ some extra pub.
“I wasn’t gonna address this because I’m tired of the drama but, I DID not take my daughter’s birth certificate to TMZ, nor did I contact them for an interview. I was put in an uncomfortable spot,” she says. “They practically backed me into a corner saying they were going to run a story anyway. I was asked a question, answered it truthfully and somehow my words were twisted and manipulated. I in no way wish to speak badly of my child’s father and definitely would not leak my daughter’s birth certificate which I myself don’t even have in my own possession!”

Nicole Scherzinger Engagement Rumors
Pussycat Doll and “X-Factor” judge Nicole Sherzinger seems to have a small controversy on her hands. The sexy siren came out denying reports that she and her boyfriend of four years, Lewis Hamilton, had gotten engaged. But…no one seems to have told her father.
“Lewis and I woke up this morning and read we were engaged!” Nicole tweeted. “Sorry to disappoint u all but its not true:)”
But the singer’s dad, Alfonso Valiente, confirmed the supposed engagement in an earlier interview.
“You know about the proposal? Yes they are engaged,” Valiente said. “My future son-in-law is a really nice guy, really down-to-earth. My family all like him. The good spirit is there. He is sincere and he and my daughter seem genuinely happy together, Lewis is a really good guy.”

Wiz Khalifa On His Career:
Wiz Khalifa shared his perspective on his career up to this point and his approach going forward. The rapper says he’s not content to remain locked in anyone’s box. He’s going to continue to push and diversify his sound.
“I just been working a lot. Just really finding myself and my own sound and you know putting my diversity out there and not letting anybody put me in a box or let people’s expectations guide what I do,” he said. “Really, just do what I feel and what makes me happy. Even the albums that I put out before, the ‘Say Yeah’s and stuff like that that I did, that was me letting people know that I’m more than just a rapper. I’m making music, I make songs, I’m down to make hits.”
“I mean, everything that I do, I try to do something different, try to make it different from the last,” Wiz said. “Really, just the transition has been learning the game, learning how to make other people happy as well as fulfilling all my needs, too. It’s everywhere. Just life, in general. Living, interacting with different people, hearing different people’s points of views. You gotta be sensitive to everything around you and just always be inspired. You just gotta be open.”
